considering the type of parent this is, you probably would have gotten yelled at & written up either way. might as well do it right, and save a kids life. good for you.
Just explain what happened to your boss and you should be fine.
Seems lucky that all you got was a write-up! Saving lives is good and all but starting life-saving procedures without consent is illegal and you could be sued.
