if you made it to manager then you should have know that regardless of how the customer is acting towards you, you just have to suck it up and take it. You had the right to refuse service, but the rules of business say you gotta be nice
"The customer is always right". Even if you know damn well they're wrong.
Exactly! Statistics say they will tell seven people, then those seven people will tell seven other people, and down the line over 500,000$ have been lost because of one instance of intolerance. I'm not saying everyone is, but many consumers and customers are stupid and think that just because it is your job to do something for them you are basically under their will. If you don't suck it up to them and make them feel "special" they get pissed and it suddenly becomes your fault that the entire incident happend.
What the hell is wrong with you ppl ?! So many "you deserved it" ! So many ppl saying that "the customer is always right" or "it's bad for business"... Wtf ? There are things way more important than business and money ! Like your dignity... if someone is treating you like dirt for no reason, you don't let him just because "it's bad for business", just for his money like some kind of prostitute. You're a human being, just as your customer, not a slave. You deserve as much respect as he does.
Bad decisions were made on both sides here. Customers (even people who work for the company and are disguising themselves as customers) have no right to be rude to salespeople. However, a rude customer is not worth risking your reputation at your job over. I've found that the best way to handle rudeness is to be overly polite. It drives them nuts, to not get a rise out of you, and they usually just leave without involving the manager.
If the owner was rude to his employee, I say f*** that guy and his company. What was the company? I don't support companies who treat their employees like crap!
oh that is just ridiculous. so he gets to be rude because he's the corporate owner?
Continuing the conversation, OP then says: "Well I'm the head of the Board of Directors..."
And the guy says: " Oh Really, because I have a few of the Board member's numbers right on my phone here..."
Touchè!
