Today, a deer hit my car. I stopped to check on it, expecting it to be dead in the road or a ditch. The fucker was staring at me from the top of the hill and pranced off just fine. I get $800 in front-end damage and I'm still finding hair and fecal matter on my car. FML

OP here, first of all I didn't expect this to get published. I was just blowing off steam on my favorite site. So, for the rude people, no i am not mad the deer didn't die. If anything I'm happy. This happened 3 years ago in Michigan. It was summer and deer weren't known to be around this BUSY road. My insurance did cover the damages. Me and the deer walked away shaken but alright. I had called a officer to the scene to make a report for the insurance and he had found the deer nearby with some scrapes. The only sad thing is that Bambi's mother was watching from a nearby hill and I'm pretty sure all animals are out to get me now as this wasnt my last incident with an animal hitting my car. Thank you to the funny and thoughtful people who commented. Again, I never expected this to get published nor seen. So don't be a Dick. I'm sensitive. ???

I'd be happy for the deer. It's not like it deserved to die to justify the damages.

Soooo is it an FML cause the deer didn't died and left you with the damages?

If you didn't want people to say negative things, then why did you post it on a website where people can vote YDI? Why even make it public at all if it happened 3 years ago?

Im pretty sure you don't understand the concept of this site. But have a nice day (:

I do understand the concept. I've been around for a few years. You can't post something that can be debated then be a cry baby when people don't respond the way you want.

How did the *deer* hit *your* car? Were you parked and the deer came out of nowhere and T-boned you? Methinks you were the one who actually hit the deer, in which case, F the deer's life. Doesn't insurance cover deer damage?

I was driving but almost to a stop sign. the deer came out of the woods and hit my front right fender near the wheel. Im surprised he walked off with just scrapes. And yes insurance replaced my fender but to this day I still find deer hair in the door springs. Tho I don't drive the car often since I switched to a bike to avoid such an incident again.

Actually it does happen. I was driving with my best friend and a deer jumped out at us and hit the passenger door. It waited for us to pass just a bit than ran into my door. ****** crazy

If it makes you feel better the deer probably had internal injuries and went on to linger and die slowly (Adrenaline is amazing stuff) so you got the last laugh in.

Dude, if you need to 'blow off steam' for something that happened 3 years ago, you've got bigger problems..

I doubt most people here live near deer, since your reaction would probably be very different if you did. I have a friend who lives in Michigan and she hates the bastards. They're incredibly dumb and will run out in front of your car with no warning, doing massive damage to your car while they often times walk away unscathed. Louis CK did a great bit about why deer are the worst.

Better than Australia where kangaroos launch themselves 20+ meters across the road in front of trucks. Big rigs tend to barely feel the bump, 4wds have bull bars for a reason.

Consider yourself lucky that you don't have Wombats and Roo's as well.

No, a deer didn't "hit your car". You ran into a deer. And quite often, animals will run off from an incident like that, seemingly uninjured, only to die in the bush. There was an incident years ago here in CA where a truck hit a bear, totalling the truck, and you guessed it, the bear ran off. They found the bear 1/4 mile away, dead, nearly every bone in its body broken.

Yes, its possible for a deer to hit a car. I have seen a lot of doors and rear quarter panels damaged by deer running into the car, even while the car was moving at normal speeds.

If a deer is going to run out in the middle of the road and get hit, the least it could do is fricken die from it. I'd have hunted the bastard down to be sure. That deers life is worth far less than the 800$ It costs for the car. A deer tag costs far less than $800.
