Today, a dog bit me on the bus. Instead of apologising, its owner said it was my fault because my hands "must smell of meat". I'm a vegetarian. FML

alaillama tells us more.

OP here: just to say that a) it was a small lap dog, but very ferocious. The bus was very crowded so I was pressed up against the dog, holding my phone with one hand and the other by my side (it bit that one); b) I had washed my hands just 20 minutes before getting on the bus (in the LADIES toilets), so they must have smelled on soap or of nothing at all. I checked afterwards and I couldn't smell anything unusual; c) thankfully my stop was pretty close so it wasn't long before I could treat it Thanks for all your concerns in the comments! It's really nice to hear them- it's healing quickly and hopefully there won't be a scar :) xxx

Sucks when people can't take responsibility of their own animals in situations like this, to them the pet is a saint and anything that happens is automatically the other persons fault, sorry OP!

May be his dog is a vegetarian? Puns aside... Hope you get treatment... Also make sure that idiot pays for those bills

Something tells me you don't know what a pun is..

This kinda depends, did you try and pet the dog, or did it just come up to you and bite you? You should never lunge at a dog to try and pet it before you've checked to see if it is okay with strangers...

Wouldn't want to take accountability for your poorly trained dog now would we....

OP, what are your hands made of? That's right - not celery.

No whether your hand smelled like bacon from breakfast or not you should get an apology. I hate irresponsible owners. When my little sister was eight she was bit badly on her arm by a neighbor dog, they begged my parents not to press charges because the dog be put down well since we had dogs my parents agreed not to press charges on the condition they watch their damn dog. They never did and my little sister had nightmares until she was fifteen. My point is make sure you're ready for the consequences if your dog hurts someone and don't blame others for it.

Am I the only one who is sitting here thinking that being a vegetarian has nothing to do with the Fml post?

Being a vegetarians has something to do with this post. The owner said that his dog bit, because OP's hand smelled of meat, but since OP is a vegetarian, and therefore never gets into contact with meat, there is no chance that OP's hand should smell like meat.

I hate careless dog owners. My parents staffie gets attacked all the time by this one dog and all the owner says is its my parents fault for having him on a lead, like what the ****? That's how you control a dog, jackass, something you should look into.
