Today, a few weeks after moving back to my home country, I found out my diploma isn't recognized here. The only training provider I can find that can upgrade it to something valid wants another 2 years of my life, 500 hours of work experience and $16,000. FML

It's a YDI if your plan from the begining was to move back home, you should always check that kind of stuff out so you're sure it's valid in the country you're planning on moving to.

it sucks, but that's how its like. especially in America. i figure its because of massively different standards of training. that's why you must study in your home country, if you want to work in your home country.

Went to a national accredited school instead of a regional school.

You totally deserve that one for not looking in to the cross-qualifications among countries. Our pediatric dentist obtained his degree in New Zealand, which you'd think would have the same standards as Canada, and Canada isn't accepting his education until he does another year of training. While this sucks, he probably should have looked into it before going somewhere else for school, if he wanted to work at home. Same as you, OP.

As someone who is in very same shoes my advice to you would be to go back.

Move back where your degree is recognized !! Simple

Why is there no YDI option for this post? Getting a degree in another country without checking to see that it will be valid in the country where you plan to live is idiotic.

if you give deets maybe there are ppl who can help you figure something out

Shouldn't you have checked that out before you moved? ydi
