Today, a friend and I went to Gamestop to pick up a game he wanted. I ended up buying a 17+ game, and I was prepared to show my license, but he stopped me an said, "I know you're 18". He then said, "Man, I've pretty much watched you grow up in this store." A game salesman watched me grow up. FML

OP here. It's a FML to me because, I'm not ashamed of being a gamer, I feel that it's just a pretty dorky situation. I totally was caught off guard when the site gave this entry the green light. I just thought it would be funny to share. A bit of background though, #155 is completely right, it's only been like 4 years.

That's more of FHL. He's been working at a game store for all those years. Atleast you had an excuse, you liked playing video games. Not all kids are into going out and playing sports etc.

i don't gets whats bad about that... so the guy who works at the store knows you, it's a mark of a good salesperson

Not an FML. Lots of guys spend a lot of time in video game stores (my boyfriend comes to mind...). The FML would be that the man has spent that long working in a GameStop (provided he isn't a manager or something).

thrs nth fml abt this come on! boys will be boys (:

How is this an FML? You like to shop at a store?

Man, FHL, he's been there long enough to watch people grow up. Unless he's the shop owner.

Totally not an FML. It's actually kind of a feel good story. Cheers!

Also, all the people saying "omg what a loser, he's had that job so long" must be about 16 and all think they will be important, high-paid CEOs or something one day. Get over yourself. Sorry kids, but in this crappy economy you're lucky to have and keep any job.

I don't see why people are insulting this guy for working there so long...ever stopped to think he likes his job and is happy with what he's been doing the last however many years? Not everyone wants to work in a fancy office y'know, and if the guy working there enjoys video games too - I don't see what's wrong with that! Yeah, you say goals...but you don't know what this guy does outside of his job, for all you know he could have a sound life. And as the OP, I'd find it quite nice to know someone who works in a store I visit a lot knowing who I was and making conversation - it's much better than having random people who don't even give you eye contact like a lot of places these days.
