Today, a kid was ranting that "people these days are so rude" and that "things were much better in the '50s." Annoyed, I asked the delusional twat what was so great about the racial segregation, rampant sexism, homophobia, and all the rest back then. He responded by punching me. FML

Today, after my 10 year-old son asked what equal rights were and I'd explained it means you treat everyone the same, this morning he punched a girl who's been bullying him so hard, he broke her tooth, because, "Equal rights: if she was a boy I'd have hit her before, but equal rights says it doesn't matter if she's a girl, so I hit her." FML

Today, one of the human turds that I stupidly added on Facebook posted how terrible her life is after her dad refused to arrange yet another holiday for her this year, so I bitched her out for being such a spoiled little brat. A few hours later, her boyfriend came over and beat the shit out of me. FML

Today, while finishing shopping with my kids, my female best friend and I were accosted by a street preacher. He screamed that we were an abomination, having biracial children was a sin against nature, and that we were ruining America. Not only we are not gay, he made my kids cry. FML

Today, I had to explain racism to my son after some of his school friends were talking about it. Another parent then stormed up to us, pissed off because even though I was explaining how bad racism is, just talking about it is itself racist, and he was offended by me. He made my son cry. FML

I really hate people who fetishize the past to the point of refusing to admit the many, many injustices that were rampant at the time. Hell, a lot of the problems still exist today, but on a much smaller scale; we have moved forward as human beings, not backwards. Racism still exists, but in the 50s we still had SEGREGATED SCHOOLS for god's sake. Life sucked in a whole lot of ways for people who weren't white, heterosexual men, to a degree that is hard for people of my generation to even comprehend; things are still harder for people outside of that group, of course, but society has progressed a long way. And I get it to some extent; I love the aesthetic of the 20s. Flappers, speakeasies, the birth of the American gangster-- I find all of that very appealing. But that is absolutely not an excuse to run around ignorantly going on about how GREAT things were in the 20s, how things were sooo much better during the 20s, while completely ignoring all of the terrible aspects of that decade in history. You can enjoy the idea of a past decade without completely ignoring the social injustice that took place at the time.

He does have the right to his own opinion, but he has no right to punch someone in the face when it's called into question. OP has the right to his own opinion as well, why does he deserve that treatment for expressing it?
