That pretty much proved that he didn't have a response to what you said.
I don't agree with his actions, but I have to agree with what he said. And calling him what you did was very rude.
In that people were raised to be racist, homophobic and sexist to a greater extent than they are today... yes. That's not really a "little thing" that can just be brushed off like "sure, Danny hated them black people and beat his wife every day, but it was a different time! A better time, somehow."
I know it can't be, I'm not saying racism and homophobia was okay, don't put words into my mouth, please. But back then, people were more kind to people on the street. People would go out of their way to help someone even when it didn't benefit them. If you fell down, today people would keep walking or walk on you. Back then, they would have helped.
Most people felt obligated to help out and be a better person because they had morals. Of course the social and political issues weren't okay, but look at them as a human being, not just at their views on race and homosexuality. People were kind and wanted to be helpful. Now with people it's "who do I have to step on to get ahead".
I've always said the same thing! Wearing a leather jacket, drivin a Chevrolet, listing to Rock'n'Roll on the way to the drive in movie with your girl in the front seat. It was an age of family values, respect, and great music. An awesome Economy and Great sense of patriotism too! It was the Golden age of America. Yes it has it's issues but every generation does. So he's right, people were generally more polite then.
Wow you just refuse to see it from anyone else's point of view don't you? Dude, like this guy said, every generation has its problems, some worse than others. People being more polite doesn't overshadow the issues from back then, but that's not the point this guy or the guy you were talking to was making.
Actually there wasn't segregation everywhere. I wasn't saying any of that was good, I just love the styles, music, and (Most of) the society of the 50's. That, and I'm a huge Grease fan.
He was probably talking about how self absorbed and inconsiderate ppl are today, and he's right, ppl may have been open about it in the 50's now they think they're clever being sly and using pc and the law to stuff everyone over, i say bring back punching the ignorant in the face, the lack of the threat of violence has made the general population more stick up and arrogant, like u, ydi
At least that's how you know he had no rational way of arguing back.
Can't win a fight with a pig, you both get dirty and the pig likes it. Same goes for morons, including hipster morons.
Prety sure you read too much into it.

He was just an immature child who couldn't admit he was wrong. All the same, argument won.
It was much much worst back then, than it is now. The stuff today is 100x better in comparison.
