I saw FYL because they shouldn't have offered you a job without gathering their details first. Were they going to wait to call your references, too?
yeah, i say you deserve it because you should have come clean prior to filling out the paper work. i'm sure there are other people there with records and most are understanding. honesty is always the best policy. and p.s. it would still be on your record even if your probation is over...get a clue
I have a friend who is on probation for putting vinegar and baking soda in a plastic coke bottle and watching it explode. It was right after 9/11 and the cop tried to say he was a terrorist with an explosive device or something like that, so he has a felony on his record for something stupid. He has trouble getting jobs but I have no pity for him and he hates it when people feel sorry for him because of his past. He understands that he did something stupid and that he has to pay for it, so when he gets job interviews he is very straight forward about the whole thing. He tells the employer ahead of time that he has a felony, how he got it, and when he will be off probation. That way he at least gets brownie points for being honest and telling them right away so they don't have to find out in a background check. YDI for not telling them about your past before they found out the hard way.
Saying "I was young and stupid at the time, I have learned a very valuable lesson, and will never do it again" shows that you learn from your mistakes and can admit when you're wrong.
your an idiot. it won't matter that your off probation, your still a fellon. that is why you won't get the job. stop breaking the law asshole.
Well, it's not their responsibility to hire a present liability. Perhaps you should've waited a smidgen longer to apply.
The same thing happened to my sister! The problem was they didn't have her social security card or number. She had to go downtown and get a new social security card and wait two weeks to get it.... only to decide she didn't want that job and proceeded to accept another job that didn't require a social security card. Sucks to be her.
You wouldn't have this problem if you were not a criminal. You deserve it
You're an idiot, just because he's on probation doesn't mean he's a criminal, it could have been a misunderstanding and he got falsely accused for something, or he could have stolen food to keep himself alive, or people like you just pissed him off, so he just kicked the crap out of them.

Jeez. I do think that criminals should be punished, but half the people here are flying off their rockers for some crime they don't even know the full details of. Maybe OP's changed. He's obviously served (or almost at least) his sentence and hopefully learned his lesson. Ever hear of forgiveness?
Were you really a prison bitch as your name suggests? Because if you served time, it might not matter that you'll be off probation. Whatever your crime, did you not think about the consequences of your actions beforehand? Why are you surprised this is happening? To everyone who is talking about forgiveness -- why should a company take a gamble that this is the one criminal in a thousand who saw the error of his/her ways and turned over a new leaf? Would you trust a stranger with a record to house-sit?
