Still not the same as having a picture of you posing with them. Signed merch is cool, but a) doesn't necessarily prove you actually met the band in person, and b) no one else really sees it. A picture could be posted on Facebook as your profile so everyone could see you got to meet your favourite band.

#25, Trust me, the feeling of excitement isn't really the same if you get merch signed without being able to get your picture taken with them. I have had it happen twice with two separate people. In September of 2013, I was able to meet Bret Von Dehl who is the lead singer of a band called The Relapse symphony. I was able to get his autograph and got my picture taken with him. I met him again a few weeks ago at Warped tour and was able to get his autograph but wasn't able to get my picture taken with him. Last November I was able to meet the drummer for the band Black veil brides and got my picture taken with him but no autograph. I met him again a few weeks ago at Warped tour as he was going to the tour bus and was able to get his autograph this time, but no picture. I was more excited to get my picture taken with him than I was to get his autograph
