Wow, that's really crap. As it's your car, you make the rules regarding it. I'm sure when you were young and had to use their car they made you refill the tank whenever you used it, right? They sold their car, they have no right to burden you like that. I assume you still live with them? As it's your car, they should refill whenever they use it. They should ask permission to use it. What are they going to do, kick you out? Live with friends, they'll still be without a car. If they take it without your permission report it stolen.
you know....if the car is in your name...you can say no
As the other 200+ comments say, tell them no, make them buy the car from you if you want to use it, or make them pay for the insurance, the gas they use, and charge them monthly for maintenance costs. If they refuse to be reasonable and respect your rights, then move out, or take the spark plugs with you when you're not using the car.
I would say **** you buy your own gas sipper. (assuming your car is one)
well, you don't have to actually give them the keys. so it's okay.
Move out and gain some independance you ******* doormat.
How does that work? Unless your parents signed the bill of sale they cannor commandeer your car. I'm pretty sure this story has just been made up. All Americans have a car, at least, that is how it seems to us Europeans. If it is true, I'd move out, since you obviously have more money than your parents.
oh hell no psh. forget them

If my parents did that to me I'd tell them they can either start contributing to gas and maintenance or they can start finding other ways to travel, like a bus, or a bike. They may be your parents but if you paid for that car with your own money, you should still have a say on who can and can't use it, and you shouldn't have to foot the car bills yourself if you aren't the only one using it.
Damn parents. You at least say SOMETHING... but sorry to say it probably won't work...
