Today, I'm in a US college. I could've gone into a trade or internship, but no one listened. Now, while my parents brag to their friends that their child has a degree, I'll probably be spending the rest of life in crippling debt, sleeping on the side of the road, and begging strangers for table scraps. Today, I tried to find a job. Again. It's been seven years since I earned more than 70€ in a month, seven years since I moved back in with my parents, and seven years since I was registered as having a medical disability. Nobody wants me, not even as a shelf stacker. FML

Today, I'm 37 years-old and recently out of a job. As my boyfriend refuses to pay more than half the rent as long as I live here, I have no choice but to move back in with my mom, 8 hours away. My boyfriend is quite happy to pay the entire rent as soon as I'm gone. FML

Today, after months of telling my parents I was going to live on my own, I finally moved out. Not even 24 hours being out of their house, some reject burned down the apartment complex I live in. Guess who's moving back home. FML

Today, I moved back in with my parents in order to help them with the mortgage, so they don't lose the house that has been in our family for three generations. I also found out that I now have a curfew, and so does my husband and our 3 year old son. FML

Degrees are pretty much a double edged sword. Sure you have a great degree, which really strengthens your chances of getting a great job, but until you actually get that job in this economy, the debt will Succumb you.

College is tough like that... if you don't get a degree that is for an industry that needs people, nobody will hire you. The problem is, EVERYBODY is getting that degree that the job market will hire... hence by the time you graduate, nobody will hire you, since they have all their employees. I am also racing to finish college before other people graduate with the same degree that the job market is demanding. But in the meantime, be sure to sell some plasma for some spending money!
