Today, after spending thousands of dollars and several years pursuing a higher education so I could get a high paying job doing something that requires skill and brainpower, I finally got my first job offer after months of searching. I will be cleaning houses. FML

Today, I happily went to an interview after job searching for months. I learned a large part of my job would be cleaning the toilets. Every. Single. Hour. I used to lecture at a university until budget cuts happened. FML

Today, after 8 years in exceptionally difficult veterinarian classes which put me $200,000 in debt, and 7 months of job searching, I finally got a job. I will be inspecting feces for worms while making minimum wage. FML

Today, after a year of unemployment due to my industry shutdown, I finally got a job offer. It involves overseas travel. After being cooped up a year, I'm thrilled! My boyfriend's mother is willing to pay my rent and bills for me to stay home. FML

Today, after spending 8 months and $11,000 on school, I was denied a job in my chosen career field. They told me they decided to go with someone with more experience. So who got the job? One of my classmates. This is her first job. EVER. FML

Why are you posting here anyways? This, m'lady, is just your first step towards success in life. You've got a degree, okay, but without experience you're not getting anywhere. YDI for expecting six figures on your first job. No matter where you come from or what have you studied, that's never a realistic expectation.

Dude, seriously? There's one hell of a difference between six figures and cleaning someone else's toilets for a living. She's not wrong to expect something in between. I feel your pain, OP. I graduated last May, and the only full-time job I've managed to get is as a nanny. :-/

My mom cleans houses. Don't complain. You must have either done really bad at school, or you're really bad at representing yourself. Maybe show you actually have brains next time. Also, don't complain about getting a job cleaning houses, I used to sweep houses, several of them before they were even fully built, and I got good money for that. Some of the most disgusting jobs get a greater pay than a smarter job. Become a garbage man, they get really nice pay checks.
