Today, after ten years, our sewing machine broke. My mom tried to return it back to the store she bought it from. FML

Let's hope she doesn't try sewing them after they don't take it back.

that's just crazy trying to return something you've owned for ten years!

I fail to see why you care or how it even involves you

I don't see what the problem is here... Many stores will take back items. My store will take back an item from years ago if you have a receipt no questions asked. If you don't have a receipt we'll still take it back but you may not get back what you paid, usually the lowest price in the last 13 days if we still carry the item.

this post made me remember my mom! i love your mom and now i have a mental image of her being a total badass!

The store I work at just accepted a return on a treadmill that was purchased in 2008... Gave them the complete refund of over 600 dollars. It's absolutely ridiculous, but it worked.

Actually a lot of sewing machines used to be sold with 15-20 year warranties.

Sew, what I'm hearing is your mom likes to get money back from old stuff.

life time warranties would be through manufacturers, not the stores. The store already got your money, they don't care if it broke after ten years

Well, if it's Costco, they'll happily take it back and refund the full price of purchase. Even if you can buy 5 of them with that money... Love Costco
