Today, after weeks of practice, I proudly did 9 chin-ups on my chin-up bar. As soon as I was done, my 11-year-old daughter came over and banged out 12 of them. Then she wiped her sweaty hands off and did 8 more. Then she gave me pointers on my technique. FML

Well she does have years of practice on those monkey bars compared to your few weeks... Don't feel to bad OP.

Be proud. You have an awesome daughter.

Schools Make Them Do Chin UPS In Their Exercise Routine.

Dont let that discourage you, keep working hard

Chin ups are easier for kids. It's a body weight ratio thing. They should always be able to do more than you, unless you're a total gym bunny. Even then, it's a specific type of strength you need.

It's about body weight, as an adult you have more body weight to loft, therefore it's harder :)

None of you commenters lift weights much do you. Being heavier or lighter doesn't hinder your ability to do pull-ups/chin-ups. For example I'm 5'10 and when I first started lifting I was 150 lbs and could barely do 5 pull ups. I'm now 180 lbs and I can rep 20 easily.

Did anybody else think of Hit-Girl when the daughter was mentioned?

It's okay little girls weigh less so the have less to lift... I used to be able to do more pull ups when I was little but the more and more i exercise the heavier I get

I'm a skinny little guy and do this to bigger guys all the time :3 at least it's not a measure of out-right strength, you'd still beat her in a fight. but you should BE A GOOD FATHER and encourage her. even if she doesn't want to be a professional athlete, to take pride in your fitness from a young age will help later in life.
