Most **** movies are aimed at men, and your boyfriend probably watched those aimed at men. Surely there are better ways to let your SO know they aren't satisfying you sexually than telling them they need to watch more ****. I think most people want their SO to think they're good in bed, and can be very sensitive when told they aren't. Saying, "You need to watch more ****" is hurtful, and it will just make the other person self-conscious every time you have sex, which you'd think would do more harm than good.
