Today, after working all week on a group project, I realized I forgot to submit the assignment and missed the deadline. I now have to tell my group that we automatically failed. FML

You deserved it 53 710

lax52389 tells us more.

FYI it was an honest mistake and the paper was only turned in 8 minutes late...after some frantic talks with my teacher she agreed not to penalize my group and just deduct points from me. Lesson learned!!

Through what stroke of genius did the group put you in charge of the final submission?

and this is why group projects suck....

Time for a group beating. They say that individuals in a mob lose all sense of humanity and become like vicious animals. This could be your make-up project.

You'd better hope the rest of the group "throws you under the bus" figuratively and not literally. The professor should fail you and grade the others as if you weren't an irresponsible ass.

That's ****** up. Prepare yourself for you will get hurt.

Please talk to the professor and explain the situation, take responsibility for your mistake and your groupmates will be considerably less angry at you about it. Hopefully they'll understand and you'll be the only one to suffer (Since it is your fault anyway)

you lucked out, for sure! I'm glad it all worked out for you!

I was going to suggest that. Good for you for taking that initiative and doing the right thing. Kudos.

Glad everything worked out. Unless you have a total asshole for a teacher, they usually will let you work something out.

So not an Fml then, just a late assignment that went fine.

I think the teacher is still an asshole for deducting points from OP... it was only 8 minutes late. Most teachers would let it go.

I mean a deadline is a deadline. I think the teacher's decision was reasonable. I know if I were in OPs situation I'd be incredibly thankful. The teacher didn't have to accept the project. I'm glad it worked out for you OP

a dead line is a dead line. Most college professors I ever had wont accept any late work even if it is just by minutes without a good excuse. Doesnt make the teacher a bad person or anything. It is their job to teach us life lessons. In some jobs (not all, of course, but a few) you miss a deadline it could mean termination..depending on how important the dead line was. But I am glad that all of you got a grade and I hope it was an excellent project. :)

Well good for you for taking credit for your mistake and saving them.

A few teachers at my school , if you turn the work in late, will take the paper and rip it in front of you then put it in the trash. Even if it's a minute late. The other day one teacher had a due time 3:30. A few kids got there at 3:31 and they just piled up in the trash.

Dude, sounds like all the other teachers I know. They won't take late work no matter if its only a minute late. I'm glad you got it worked out. How many points were taken?
