Today, after working for over ten years at a dead-end factory line, I told my friends I was going to take some business courses and land myself a real job. All they've done since is laugh, mock me, and say that if Clinton couldn't fix the economy, I have no chance. FML

Except that when Clinton was president, the economy was at one of it's best points in the nation's history.

my family made fun of me for saying I wanted to go to school too. I'm doing better than I was :), and since they feel they can say it they might just be teasing rather than serious

**** them. do it anyway. they aren't real friends if they treat you that way.

I am sorry I cannot comment on the clinton/obama references in this discussion thread. Some ops have very limited senses of humor. The prior administration did a lot to setup the business playing ground for the economy in the 90s. That combined with the explosion in information technology and the internet made for a very good series of years. Factory workers play an important role in the workforce. I think it is good that you want to be more than just a person standing on a line. You should seek out successful people and try to model what it is that they do. Organization is key for any business/technology position. I am sure you can find people that will be willing to help. The business degree will only get you in the door to have a discussion. The rest is up to you. You have to want it, you have to be willing to work for it. And you have to be willing to make sacrifices to make it happen. Good luck.

I'm confused? Clinton got us out of debt, Bush back in, and Obama in. Huge debt. So from what I see is that's good to be called Clinton.

Those aren't friends, they're asshole with no life. A real friend would say " you can do it! Just never give up!"
