Today, at a public restroom, I caught my extremely eco-friendly daughter, who was on her period, looking through the trash. When I asked why, she said, "Because I'm looking for pads to use. It'll mean less garbage." I then had to lecture her in the public restroom about health and hygiene. FML

You should have another serious talk with her and talk about what other options there are.. There are organic pads, menstrual cups, cloth pads, washable pads etc. All eco-friendky. I hope she will understand that what she is doing isn't the best option and it can seriously damage her health. Best of luck OP!

I'm all about "less garbage", but what your daughter did is just... I don't even have words for. Hopefully you were able to talk some sense into her

Would she be opposed to wearing a divacup?

What the hell is wrong with your daughter??

Your daughters perception of live an "eco friendly" life is twisted. Why on earth would anyone in their "right mind" search through a public restroom to find someone else used sanitary items. She has taken this eco friendly stance to a whole new level of extreme. She has gone of the deep ends and may be a little cuckoo. She needs more than just a Le rude on hygiene but also about what Eco friendly means cause I am sure those followers would not inspire people to use someone's else sanitary items. Just yuck.

At least she wasn't looking for tampons...ew

Most tampons need an applicator (cardboard or plastic) in insert and they expand as they work. I don't think they can be reused, unless she really tried to ram it in. Why do I read FML while eating?

Good lord buy her some ACTUAL reusable ones so this never happens again!!!!

should've let her do ot OP. First time she ends up with TSS or some other serious infection she would have learned her lesson.

Oh god, imagine if she used an HIV positive pad... Oh the horror... Please educate your daughter!

I worked as a phlebotomist or a blood drawer, anything with blood on it is potentially infectious. You never want to put potentially infectious materials next to a mucus membrane! Even if she doesn't catch a blood borne disease, it is beyond gross.... She can make a washable pad with snap wings. Or buy a moon cup. Or even just use a washcloth as a pad!
