Today, at a public restroom, I caught my extremely eco-friendly daughter, who was on her period, looking through the trash. When I asked why, she said, "Because I'm looking for pads to use. It'll mean less garbage." I then had to lecture her in the public restroom about health and hygiene. FML

You should have another serious talk with her and talk about what other options there are.. There are organic pads, menstrual cups, cloth pads, washable pads etc. All eco-friendky. I hope she will understand that what she is doing isn't the best option and it can seriously damage her health. Best of luck OP!

I'm all about "less garbage", but what your daughter did is just... I don't even have words for. Hopefully you were able to talk some sense into her

if your disgusting hippy daughter wants to minimize her carbon footprint, tell her about freebleeding. can't get much greener than that!

Your daughter must be pretty tough to be willing to do something like that but its completely unnecessary.

For those of you suggesting alternate items that should've been used beforehand, I don't think OP knew about it until now... But I agree, it's gross.

Um… yeah… might need to have another little talk with her there…

They have period panties. Which are panties that absorb your period no pad or tampon needed and you rinse them out. Maybe you should get some of those for her. Or a Diva Cup

Get her a moon cup. That should satisfy her Eco-friendly needs

or if she is one of the lucky ones, have her get an IUD and never have periods again. (Hence one of the lucky ones. I know some people it does not work like that for them)

I'm one of those sad unlucky ones

Jesus Christ. Seriously consider washable pads or a menstrual cup for the poor thing. My everything cringed at the idea of reusing other people's pads.
