Today, at an elementary school a girl showed me her grandma's obituary in the paper and started crying. To stop her from crying I made things out of the rest of the paper, later she asked me where her grandma's obituary was. I accidentally made it into a hat, with lots of tape. FML

Today, a parent came into my class and told one of my 6 year-old students that their grandma died. Then the parent left. The kid started crying from the news, which then got all the other students crying. I spent the rest of the day comforting a class of kids crying over someone else's grandma. FML

Today, I was trying to get drama students to attempt to make themselves cry. I was not having any luck, until suddenly a girl burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably. I jumped up to applaud, saying what a wonderful thing it is to have such expressive kids. Turns out her grandma just died. FML

Today, my English teacher asked me why I didn't have my project completed. Thinking quick on my feet, I told her it was because my grandmother had just passed away. Apparently they go to the same country club and have known each other for years. My teacher started crying and ran out of the room. FML

Today, while at my aunt's funeral, my grandma who has terrible memory loss asked me whose funeral we were at. I had to explain to her that her daughter had died. FML

Today, I told my boss that my grandma died to get a day off work, but then my grandma showed up at the office looking for me because she wanted to go shopping. FML

Today, I proudly gave my grandma a picture I had drawn for her. She didn't seem thrilled with it, and afterwards the rest of my family seemed upset. Nobody could fathom why I drew grandma a picture of a graveyard for her 85th birthday. It was suppose to be a bridge. FML

Today, I was at my grandma's funeral. While giving the eulogy, I accidentally mixed up "You will be missed" and "You won't be forgotten" and instead said "You won't be missed." FML

Today, my grandma posted an embarrassing childhood photo on my school's events page. I told her everyone could see it, and asked if she could take it down. She freaked and commented on it, apologizing for posting it. Now I feel guilty for embarrassing her, and it's still on the page. FML

This is quite possibly the dumbest female I've ever read. One, how did you accidentally make it into a hat? And two, it's just a piece of newspaper, it's not exactly hard to get another one...

Lol that's so funny.. I'm gonna learn how to make things out of paper now. Honestly, I don't think it's that big of a deal. If I were the girl I wouldn't be offended.. And whoever said this fml isn't believable, then you probably live in a very small world.

I think it's sweet that you tried to cheer the kid up, despite the fact that it went wrong. It's not like the kid can't go get another newspaper and cut the obituary out of that one. FYL, but I don't think it's that bad of a situation. And good job trying to make the kid happy. :)

#7: Ever read Atonement? The entire book is about 1 accidental switched letter ruining the lives of many. Maybe you've never set something down and picked it up thinking it was something else, but a lot of people do, it's not impossible. For everyone saying it's not an FML, I think the reason the OP posted this as an FML is because the girl probably got really upset again to the point of crying, and then if she did, the hat was an utter failure. OP: That sucks, but I hope you were able to explain to her parents what happened, they probably have more of those lying around, seeing as I don't think anyone would trust their elementary school child with their grandmothers only obituary.
