I mean if there more qualified then you, then they will get the job. Don't expect to get the job out of thin air just because he is your dad.
I've worked in my family business for years. It can be tough working with family members, but it can also be rewarding. Just do your best and try to treat it like any other job interview.
You expect to be given the job just because its your Dad doing the hiring? Go to the interview and prove you deserve the job, and if you are fortunate enough to get it, drop the daddy's spoilt brat attitude before your first day of work. Unless your also expecting your Dad to do the actual job for you too?
time to wait and see if an FML is posted about how someone's unqualified son got the job over them or if someone didn't get hired at their dad's company!
What about the qualified person who is applying next to you. Should they be screwed out of an opportunity because you are the bosses kid?
Take it in the right spirit. He wants you to come up in life by your own steam. In case you did not get through the interview successfully, just offer to work as an intern/apprentice for your dad's business and learn the job/trade. It is okay even if it is unpaid.
I believe you should look at it in a different light that he even offered you an interview in the first place when this is the first time that you've contacted him in years.
If they are more qualified you shouldn't be doing that job. Find a job you're qualified for. Or maybe daddy needs a toilet cleaner...

Just because he's your father doesn't mean you've suddenly earned a job at his company. While it's be nice, you should still put forth the same effort to get there as anyone else.
So you feel you should be handed a job you may not be able to do for free?
