Today, Child Protective Services came to my house, because my 7-year-old son told people at school that he was uncomfortable sleeping in his uncle's bed. I had to explain to them that the uncle in question died 2 years ago, and that's why it felt weird. FML

I'm sure it was weird for the first few months as the corpse was rotting, but your kid shoud be OK now that he's just down to a skeleton. Skeletons are cooler than teddy bears.

At least you know he has caring teachers

I love how they just jumped to a conclusion without asking the kid or calling the OP first...

Unfortunately, when teachers have a weird "feeling" about a situation, they no longer call the parents since by law they have to call CPS or police right away.

Am I the only one who thinks the uncle's ghost is probably molesting the kid, and the mom didn't even bother to ASK her son why it's weird, and just ASSUMED that it's because the uncle is dead?

True, but in the FML, it never says that the uncle actually died IN the bed. The kid probably just got freaked out knowing that someone who died used to use that bed.

Same sort a thing happened with my brother. A weeks before our grandfather died he made up a batch of cookie dough, so that if my brothers or I got depressed my nan could make up some "grandpa cookies". So a few months later he got some cookies, and brought them to school. Teacher asked who made the cookies, and he told her. Mom got the phone call that day with the teacher thinking he was seeing ghosts.

148: What a sweet story. :) The cookie part, not necessarily your little brother.

WHY WOULD U MAKE UR KID SLEEP IN A DEAD PERSON's bed

Some people can't afford a new bed. We don't know the whole story.

Honest mistake from your kiddo. People just took it the wrong way.

I loved your post so much I created an account to comment. No disrespect at all intended but I laughed out loud when I read it. Beautifully written. . . . it leads you one way, then - bam! - it's something else entirely. Kudos!

This is one of those FMLs where nobody was responsible for the life-f!!king. The teachers are required to report abusive activity, the kid didn't realize that saying "I don't like sleeping in my uncle's bed" would be misinterpreted, and CPS was just doing what they get paid to do.
