Today, during dinner, my mum asked why I've been so upset recently, so I just admitted it was because my girlfriend had cheated on me. At some point during my venting, I asked why this stuff always seems to happen to me. My dad looked up from his plate and said, "Probably karma." FML

No. Karma does not mean "the exact same thing happening to you that you did to someone else". In its more colloquial (as opposed to traditional spiritual) sense, it simply indicates things happening to someone in accordance with the overall good/bad quality of their deeds.

Honestly I can't decide how I should vote on this one. Sure my first thought is to just say your life sucks, but the more I think about it I can't help but think the father said that for a reason, as in because she's cheated on someone herself and he was saying now she's getting the same thing done to her. I mean that would fit with the idea of karma by definition.
