Today, for the 5th day in a row, I had to keep my 7-year-old home from school and search his poop because he "forgot" he's not supposed to swallow things like, in this case, a screw that fell off his scooter. FML

The kid won't die. The girl I babysit does it all the time and she jut poops them out. No need to miss school for that. But if he is old enough to go to school he should be old enough to know NOT to swallow a screw! YDI

Steel will easily be coroded and broken down by the stomach acids and pass through the body without problems and being noticed so don't worry to much about it.
