I like how you're so offended by your father's scorn for your field of study, yet express similar disdain for other fields in the same post. Um, pot calling kettle?
The fields of study OP named are pseudosciences, doesn't have anything to do with disdain, they're literally not related to genuinely studying the "real world"
What on earth is "related to the real world" if physics isn't? Literally, you are studying the mechanics of how the real world - actually, the entire universe - works. Good luck with your Master's degree!
Proof that he will never stop, by induction: if he's told you n times, he'll probably tell you n+1 times ;) Maybe tell him about econophysics as a real-world application?
Woah, the nth time?!
You wrote "nth" time by the way I don't think it's something big but I just wanted to say that. And it's awesome that you are studying physics good job you do you ok, don't let anybody bring you down.
Saying "nth time" implies lots of times. ie the "insert number here"th time where n is an integer. It's commonly used in math when talking about sequences of numbers. This seems to have confused a lot of people. hope that helps :)
Strange....he must have been very confused or very forgetful. Hopefully you can find a way to talk to him and correct him. If he does not let you get a word into the conversation then you might have to simply ignore him and change topics. I wish you the best communications with your Dad OP. Good luck!
To be fair it is REALLY hard to get a job in physics. Friend of mine has a Masters in Biology and looked for years and now works in a real estate office. Maybe that is what your dad meant?
I think maybe you forgot a few letters, OP. Last I checked, "nth" was not a valid number.
Last I checked, Googling your facts before correcting others makes you look like less of an idiot.
Show him The Big Bang theory.

Your father probably didn't do well in science
Can you please calculate the amount of force necessary to knock some sense into people? It's got something to do with mass and velocity, but that's your field, OP, not mine. Physics is a very applicable and needed science in today's world. Your dad needs to stop implying that it's not useful, because it is extremely relevant. Congrats, OP, for sticking with a field that has excellent jobs.
