Today, I admitted to my boyfriend of three years that I have been suffering from depression for a while now. He took it as a good time to dump me. FML

Did he dump you because of the depression? Or because he was going to anyway? The former is a douche move and be glad to be rid of him. However if it's the latter he might well be going to support you through it as a friend, I can see why he might not want to prolong the relationship for such reasons but might find other ways to support you.

your (ex) boyfriend is an asshole... find someone who will accept who you are!

when I first read it, I thought it said, 'he took that as a good time to take a dump on me'... ya it makes more sence the other way...

thank you 17 I replied to a comment somewhere not sure if it showed up but maybe he did not want to be a support system cause maybe it made him realize he didn't love her as much as he thought that's not a douche move the real douche move would be supporting someone you didn't fell the same about and lying to them about it that will definitely help depression

woos, I find pretty rude and stupid because some men are pretty sweet and he's like ruining that trend (sorta) plus I'm a guy so that even sucks for me because now you girls think were stupid because we do some stupid things once in a while.. lol

heh, well there are some nice guys out there I guess. OP isn't necessary a dick, depending on the circumstances.

Commas and periods are good things. Learn to love them.

that must be the most terribly structured paragraph I have ever read!

Don't blame the nerd for dumping you. Dating a depressed chick is just...ugh. How he didn't realize you were depressed prior to a "confession" is beyond me though.

1- Yay! Animal Crossing! 2- In my experience nerds are better boyfriends.

Dumping someone for having depression is so cruel. Yeah, it may not be a walk in the park to date someone who's depressed, but I've done it. We eventually broke up, but it did NOT happen because of his depression. It really bothers me when someone thinks that people with depression can just "suck it up" and magically be okay. And, like CitrusGirl said, nerds are the best boyfriends. :P

Aww I'm so sorry :/ you may have just inherited it from one of your parents. I know I did. I hope things get better for you!!

OP that really sucks, good on you for having the courage to tell him, don't let him discourage you from letting other people what you're going through though. good luck
