I think the 'wax on wax off' motion can be used anytime a person uses a clockwise and then a counter clockwise motion with their hand

They've probably wished dishes before. But no matter how much dish-washing experience you've gotten at home, all that matters to employers is how much professional dish-washing experience you've had (like an an actual restaurant, bakery, etc.)
