I know a couple who lived in a barn. They converted it into a house on the inside. You'd never know the difference and it's one of the nicest homes I've ever seen. Just because it's a barn doesn't mean it's a dump or that the inside actually looks/feels like a barn. It could look amazing on the inside and maybe OP just thinks they're too good to live in a barn home because it was a barn first.
