Today, I asked a coworker if she would cover for me on Easter because I want to spend it with my 3 year old daughter. She said no because she wants to spend Easter with her kids, too. She doesn't have kids. FML

What kind of person asks for Easter off the day before? YDI for being inconsiderate!!! maybe you coworker already has plans for Easter. Don't be selfish and learn to think ahead! I feel bad for your 3 year old. Sounds like it's going to be a "blame everyone else" whiner like you!!!

I have kids of my own and I never try using my kids as an excuse to get my coworkers to cover my work. If it's an absolute emergency that's one thing but things like holidays and birthdays occur every year which means there is plenty of time to make arrangements. I think it's completely unfair to expect everyone else to pick up the slack.

I have kids, and I plan for holidays. Just because I chose to have kids doesn't give me the right to holidays over my childless peers. Some example you're setting.

time with kids isn't able to be replaced later on so yes they should get time off for holidays but sometimes single people need those holidays off to see their family. since I don't have kids, I offer to work for those who do. when I eventually have kids, I'll hope that others will do the same for me. the coworker lied about kids which was wrong. she could've just been honest and sai that she already had plans that couldn't be broken. she isn't at fault here except that she lied.

I have kids but I plan ahead and ask off at least 2 wks in advance. YDI for asking the day before a holiday and expecting others to drop their plans bc you pull the "parent" card. You give parents a bad name by assuming you should get a free pass at not planning in advance. If your employer wouldn't give you the day off, you could have asked other coworkers, if you had planned in advance. F*** off, ya whine ass!

I always get the short end of the stick with holidays and late shifts because I don't have kids... I never thought to have fake kids, lol. YDI for thinking your special because you popped out a kid. The rest of us have a right to holidays off too.
