Today, I asked a coworker if she would cover for me on Easter because I want to spend it with my 3 year old daughter. She said no because she wants to spend Easter with her kids, too. She doesn't have kids. FML

While it wasn't cool of her to lie (though we really don't know whether or not she truly has kids), she doesn't have to give up her day off. Maybe she had plans and didn't want to reschedule?

Screw this. For ten years I covered for workmates because I don't have kids, I worked Easter, Christmas, every single holiday, I missed out on time with my own family and friends. There comes a point where you start putting yourself first. Get over it. People without kids have lives too.

maybe you misunderstood her. she may have baby goats. I definantley would want to spend Easter with them. so don't call her a lier until you have the facts.

Unless the kid is deathly sick or injured, there is no way I am going to cover a coworkers shift just so they can spend time with their kid(s). It is not my fault you don't know how to think ahead and plan.

When I was single I got stuck with all the holidays despite having seniority because I had no family, so I was screwed based on the manager's belief that colleagues with children had more of a right to holidays off than their childless peers. Bullshit. Our rights were equitable. We got a new manager and he abided by the corporate policy of strict seniority and lo and behold, I correctly jumped to the top of the list and got almost every holiday off while the Mommys and Daddys had to pitch in and work. Funny, it was OK for me to sit there by myself on every holiday but when it was divided fairly and we each had to take ONE apiece they all went apeshit. The biggest whiner was the Jew who was assigned Christmas Day but had every Jewish holiday off. Go figure. Some people think having children entitles them to special treatment. All is means is that two people ****** without using birth control, the female conceived and subsequently popped out a kid. Happens all the time.

just because she doesn't have kids means she should give up her Easter? now that's rude!
