Today, I asked my boyfriend to try and man up and act a bit tougher. He started crying. FML

Oh noes! You're seeing someone who doesn't fit ridiculously narrowly-defined stereotypes about what it means to be male! Poor you!

meany! why can't u be a normal gf and give him compliments & not harsh remarks on his manhood!

Geez, that would be like a guy telling his girlfriend "You need to act more feminine". Gotta love double-standards. YDI for being an ass.

I see no double standard, the OP is being treated the same way a male would for telling his GF to act more like a woman.

I'm just astonished by how many double standards there are towards men. You women have the audacity to complain about sexism, yet you say crap like this?! If you're so into stereotypes OP, why not get a drunk, bearded, muscly 'macho' guy who will then beat you if you step out of line. Otherwise, panty up, love him for who he is, and start acting like a real woman.

The funny part is, if a boyfriend told his girlfriend to act more feminine, lady-like and beautiful, there is a 99% chance that that particular girlfriend would've came to Fmylife to complain

He IS, toughening up, op. this is his way of saying **** you.

>.> this is why relationships fail so much. it's mutual give-take. if you don't like how masculine he is, get over it, or get over him. for example, how would you feel if someone told you that you were too manly, and needed to lose weight because it makes you look like a linebacker? that's pretty much the girl's version of your statement, in my opinion. YDI for being a bitch.
