Today, I asked my doctor out on a date. He had his nurse turn me down. FML

Well, yeah, he kinda had to get the nurse to That could really **** up his licence and career

Extremely unethical and inappropriate and hopefully you've already received the letter saying they will no longer see you as a patient.

Oh well. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take!

Don't take it personally, OP. Speaking as the daughter of a medical doctor, doctors get asked out A LOT. But they are also the most heavily sued, so even being in the same room with someone who may be romantically interested without two other witnesses there with him/her (especially male doctors because of stigma) opens them up to all kinds of risk, even if your intentions were pure. The nurse was sent as a mediator.

Not only would it be completely unethical for him to date you (as others have pointed out) but your post states that you're a guy. Do you even know whether or not he swings that way?

You're an adult. You know doctors can't date their patients. If you liked him so much you wouldn't have put him in that position to begin with.

it's against health professionals code of conduct to engage any romantic activity with a patient

In all honesty, dating sucks, and so does this situation... Buuuut he IS your doctor and thats crossing lines. I think u might be watching too many movies. IRL u cannot do this ! Haha. Hope ur dating life gets better, and that u also get a new doctor..

Today's diagnosis: Delusional for thinking the doctor/patient privilege extends that far...
