Today, my husband told his parents that he was quitting his job so that he could focus on school. They asked him what he was going to do for money. When I told them that I'd be the one working, they took one look at me and burst into laughter. FML

Today, I was accepted to college and received a scholarship equal to almost half the tuition. After sharing this news with my parents, I spent the next 35 minutes getting yelled at about how I wasn't allowed to go there because my boyfriend might go there. FML

in australia hardly anyones parents pays for uni, everyone gets loans then pays it back after they graduate when they start working

welcome to adulthood. I will be at least 30 grand in debt before I even graduate, 20 if I'm lucky. student loans are a bitch, but without them I'd be screwed.

I have no idea why kids think it's their parents responsability to pay for their college, a good start to your adult life is learning to stand on your own two feet and pay for your own education there are various ways this can be done with loans or a side job etc,etc.

fyl. don't even go to college, get a job doing something you like and save up. it's just like going to college except u get to keep your 20 grand PLUS. college is for rich people. jobs that don't require degrees don't pay for degrees all set with 20 PLUS years debt
