Today, I bought a fish. I put the tank on top of the fridge so my cat wouldn't get at it. I'd forgotten to buy some things for its tank, so I quickly ran out to get them. When I got home, I saw the tank destroyed on the floor, and my cat devouring my fish. I had the fish for less than an hour. FML

I hope the poor kitty didn't hurt its paws on the broken glass.

I'm sorry but u out it on top of the fridge to avoid the cat?? That doesn't work... Their cats. U have to know where to keep the fish so the cat can't get it. Common sense.

Not to mention that if it's on top of a fridge it's most likely in a fish bowl, which shortens the lifespan of the fish dramatically.

coming from a household with four cats that is a BAD mistake... Cats are able to jump extremely high... It's sad for the fish but now you know. FYL

why the hell did you get a fish knowing that?

Are you kidding me? A cat can easily get on top of the fridge, especially with counters nearby. If you want to keep a fish safe, put it either in another room or put a lid on the tank to keep the cat out. YDI

What would make you think your cat couldn't get it up there? Cats can climb trees... A fridge is nothing to them!

What kind of idiot buys a fish when they have a cat?

Uh, a lot of people? As long as you put the tank in the right place and give it a secure hood, the cats can't do anything about it. It depends on the cat though: my cats never had the slightest bit of interest in my fish. There was this one time I was holding one of my cats, and all he did was half assed-ly swat at one of the fish as it swam by, but that was it.
