Now that it's happened, though, you know something about your ex that probably would have screwed you over sooner or later anyway. Be glad you got rid of her now.

Gee - you got rid of her and it only cost you 2 Broadway tickets? In my book, you're way ahead. Although, if you'd gone to all the trouble of booking the tickets, couldn't you tell work that she was more important, and taken her to the show instead? One of the most important lessons in life is learning when it's important to go with the flow, and when it's important to stand up and be counted. There will be times - more than one - when it will be more important to keep a promise to your partner than giving in to pressure from work/bosses. That said, given the result, you are well rid of her.
