Today, I bought stamps to send a letter. For some unknown reason, instead of putting the stamp on the letter, I posted the letter and the stamp booklet into the postbox. FML

Today, I rushed to the post office to mail an important document for the study abroad program that I'd applied for, which was due in a few days. Just as the envelope slipped out of my hand and into the mail box, I caught a glimpse of the upper right corner where there was supposed to be a stamp. FML

Snail mail

Today, after moving to a new house my life has fallen apart, paperwork lost, appointments missed, job offers rescinded, and now I know why. The postbox by my new house isn’t in use, so four months worth of the letters I've posted are sitting uncollected inside it. It even has a big "Not in use" sign on it. FML

Today, in my excitement to make some new cards for the postcard exchange I take part in, I apparently spilled my bottle of glue directly into the bag that contains my entire postcard collection. I didn't notice until several hours later. FML

Today, I sent a get well card to my friend. it wasn't until after I got home from posting it did I realise that the stamps I put on the envelope had the phrase "Let's Get Active" on them with drawings of people playing sports. My friend is in a wheelchair. FML

You're most likely going to get the letter and stamps back you addressed it right. Sorry you couldn't send it off initially, but it's not too bad OP. Just wait a few days and you'll see it in your mailbox.

Don't feel bad op, I almost did something similar. It's been a while since I've filled out an envelope, and the ones at work usually already had stamps on them. So I had a brain fart and after doing the sending address stamp we have for my office, I had to stop and ask if I needed to add a postage stamp. I realized how stupid I sounded as soon as the words started coming put of my mouth. But I'm pretty sure my boss was starting to question why she hired me lol.
