Today, I broke up with my girlfriend. Driving her home, we got stuck in a construction zone. I waited half an hour with with my ex-girlfriend bawling her eyes out in the passenger seat as I watched the traffic lady eat her lunch. FML

LOL. The first time I read this I skipped the first bit and was like, wow, your girlfriend was so hungry that she cried after seeing someone else eating?

YDI for not dumping her in a situation where you didn't further interact with her.

common sense drive her home then break up wow dumb!!

that happened to me only a little differently. My boyfriend broke up with me and then offered to drive me home because I didn't have a ride. I live 20 hours away. I started crying when ge picked up his girlfriend who he was cheating on me for. He piled her up on the 1st hour

OP broke up with his girlfriend for a reason. He didn't live her anymore, maybe she had cheated on him or OP had found someone else. And then he's like "You know what, I'll still get you back to the safety of your own home." And this is what he gets? Wow, dude. This must be why you're still single, #154.

Not to be rude but if you had just broken up with the chick why were you driving her home?

Cause he wasn't just gonna leave her there! HE had the common decency to make sure she got to her house safely.

I don't see why people keep saying you deserve it and you're an asshole, you broke up with a girl, it happens! It doesn't make you a bad person... at least you were nice enough to drive her home.

Somehow I feel that most of the people who say it's a YDI do it because OP broke up with her. If he didn’t have feelings for her anymore then that was the right decision to make and both of them did not deserve it. That he doesn't love her anymore doesn't mean he is oblivious to the pain he caused her and careless. So it's a FHisL and a FHerL

Next time break up with someone when you don't have to drive them home.
