no you call them on all the violations in the workplace, the stupid little shit that is in every workplace, then OSHA shows up and does inspections and makes life hell for the employer for a while until all the violations are corrected.

Yeah! Sue sue sue! Or just look for another job. Any establishment which the management carries themselves in that manner and terminates employees via misspelled text message doesn't sound like any place worth working for. Look for a job with a literate boss.
Seriously though OP - sue him! Keep the text message AND records that you were sick so he can't claim you just "didnt show up"
