Today, I competed in a bikini contest at work. According to the score sheets and the judges, I won the cash prize and an all-expenses paid trip to Vegas. However, I was shunted to second place, and the unattractive girl who sleeps with the company owner's socially awkward son was awarded my win. FML

Op here. I didn't have an fml account when I submitted this. I do work at hooters. And I did not mean that this girls "worth" is measured by attractiveness. I'm only pointing out that she is considered "unattractive" because she didn't meet the standard of this particular contest (overweight, excessive acne, unkept hair, etc) and by no means should have won. Beauty standards and confidence are what we are judged on for this contest. And the owners son being socially awkward is an important detail because he has never had a girlfriend before and she told him she would not consider it if she didn't win this contest. So at the last minute, the owner added his sister and girlfriend to the judging panel (they originally weren't supposed to be) and had them vote for her. My managers were told of the rig to the contest by the other judges. The other judges said that even with the sister and girlfriend my scores were still highest and my managers told me because everyone was shocked at what had happened. It was very obvious that the results were tampered with. But the owners announce the results. I just used the words unattractive and socially awkward to make a point because of the word limit for submitting FMLs. And of course, I was angry when I wrote this at the unfairness of the situation and being mistreated by a company I've worked hard for, for years. I was a good sport about it, even after it was confirmed that the contest was rigged because there's nothing I can do anyway and just needed to vent in this fml

I'm sure an impartial panel of FML judges would be able to chime in on the actual winner of the contest. We have the image of your competition, but nothing to compare it to.

What the hell kind of place gives its employees an all-expense paid trip anywhere based on how good they look in a bikini? That's absolutely ridiculous. And wow, the girl is overweight so that makes her unattractive? I get the unkempt hair basically saying she doesn't care how she looks, but still. And yeah, if she's sleeping with the boss's son, that's obvious favoritism. Still, this whole situation is ridiculous. Wish I could work at a place where we get a free fancy trip for strutting around in swimsuits.

I'm sorry the contest was rigged. Even so, it is not a good enough reason to call a girl unattractive. Beauty is subjective. It not a good reason to call a guy socialy akward either. Because you're hurt doesn't mean you have to hurt other people (and by other people I mean any person reading FML feeling overweighted or akward included). This was unecessary insults.

You've "worked hard for years" at Hooter's and are a sore loser that someone who was probably more attractive and sexy than you won? Being overweight is not ugly. She probably has what you don't. What makes you unattractive is the way you are bitchy and full of yourself. I wonder how old you are. It's easy to weave a story and talk bad about someone who can't defend themselves. If it had indeed been rigged and that they recognized it, they would have given you the prize anyway. Also, I don't believe you when you describe that girl the way you do. They wouldn't have let a girl with such hair etc work there. Acne is not dirty. Getting rid of it is sometimes impossible. Sucks for you that an overweight, ane-riddled, bad-haired girl won. That says a lot about you and the way people see you.
