I think the point was that it wasn't a "correction" but rather a stupid comment. But that's just how I interpreted it, perhaps this person really did just stupidly suggest that only "learnt" is correct but that would just make me sad inside...

Well, I'm pretty sure "learnt" is also a word, lots of words meaning the same thing have to correct spellings. If you're going to be a grammar nazi, make sure you know that rule and what words it applies to. Without that knowledge, you just look like an ass. Besides, learned and learnt is like correcting someone for using "u" instead of "you". Unless the person's grammar is so horrible that you can barely understand what they typed up, there's no sense in correcting them. Well, you can also do it if they try to insult you and make simple mistakes, especially I'd they try to insult your intelligence.

Yeah people get so pissy over that shit. I correct people all the time and they get mad and I am like 'what are you going to do when you get a job and your boss asks you to type something? Then what if he corrects your mistakes? what are you going to say?? you cannot cuss him out for correcting you.' people need to gtfover themselves
