I understand your point of view, but that's exactly my point. No one really tries anymore. They assume something is a certain way. Obviously, she had no idea that her boyfriend had any feelings for her, so she told him she was breaking up with him.

This really depends I think on how long they were dating and the age of the parties involved. If they are mid to late twenties and had been dating for a while/ had been discussing marriage I can see the bf being this upset. Too much of this depends on other things.
