Well those things are supposed to be like tanks. But you should still ask someone about that.
During a bomb threat, my high school took us to stand beside the buses. As the final class from school was moved there, the "educators" got word that there could possibly be bombs in the buses, so they moved us right back into the school. So, OP it's not just your special institution; it's all over the place. F Everyone's L.
And I thought my teachers hated my school!
Does the head teacher give the impression of being a psychopath ?
I know how you feel. At my school, if theres ever a fire in the science hall and if it gets to the gas main under the building, it will explode. During fire drills, people in that hall just walk right outside of it. According to one of my old teachers, its explodes, it'll kill like half the people outside of the school because they don't make us go far away enough.
And that is why you don't line up there. Save yourself and run
You live in new Jersey or Texas dont you?
Dumb asses......I'd SUE! hah
propane tanks usually don't "explode", they have release valves that will start to release and burn off the contents of the tank once they reach a certain temperature so as to prevent a dangerous explosion... I know this because there was a massive propane explosion at a local plant but none of the larger tanks exploded, only the small BBQ ones did
Actually that is pretty common. Anyone who knows anything about engineering knows that the fail safes involved in preventing the tanks from going off make it one of the safest places to be on campus aside from crossing the street to another lot. Growing up, our propane tank was always our evacuation point because it was the safest place on the property. Do you really think that any building built in the last 30 years would risk an explosion like that? Not that it is impossible for failsafes to "fail" but I would feel pretty safe.
Agreed. Even if the tanks didn't have release valves, how would the burning school even detonate propane tanks that are some distance away? People don't realize what it takes to cause a propane tank to go super-nova. They literally need to be IN the fire, and for quite some time. Same goes for gas mains mentioned here. The only dangerous area would be at the end of the gas main where it terminates in the school. It's not remotely likely to rupture anywhere outside of the school. The pressure on the line (and lack of oxygen in the line) won't allow the fire to backfeed. In fact, if there is a steady flow on a gas line, you can actually weld on it without immediate danger, because the moving fuel absorbs and carries the heat away. High pressure lines are actually cool to the touch. I used to work as a welder's helper and know this first-hand.

Sounds like they planned it all out well then.
Smokey Bear is crying right now.
