my sympathies! my husband is finishing law school and I hope he's not in the same boat
I think Jesus judges lawyers on a case-by-case basis.
My brother is in law school working his ass off. He just started his second year, and he's already applying for internships and jobs for next summer and the summer after. And you gave up after 3 months? I'm sorry, but if you don't have the patience to keep job hunting for more than a single summer, you don't have the patience for a 60+ hour work week, which is oh so common in the law profession.
I can see that you're very proud of your brother, but I can also see that you have no idea what the job climate is like for current law school graduates. OP isn't "giving up," OP just needs to find a job, ANY job to feed herself in the meantime. That's a SMART thing to do, understand? You sound very young and naive from the tone of your post. Applying for summer jobs is something that most law students do, it doesn't mean that your brother is especially hardworking or driven. Has your brother actually gotten anything yet? Is he aware of the horrendous hireback ratios he'll be looking forward to, with many of the nation's most powerful firms not offering ANY hirebacks? I hope your brother does well for himself, but you shouldn't assume that OP is just lazy. Your brother might very well end up worse off than OP, considering the number of law students who are already flooding the market now, the number of law students who are deferring a year or going on to do their LLMs while waiting for the market to recover and will be back looking for jobs in the next year or two, and the number of associates who have been laid off who will be looking to get their jobs back. The next few years are going to be really, REALLY rough.
well, you can always become a stripper. they make a lot of money. dirtayyy money. ...jk:P
Exactly the same situation, since Walmart owns the supermarket called Asda in the UK. I've just applied there after months and months of unsuccessful job hunting. :)
I'm so sick of stupid ******* FMLs. An FML is an opportunity to let strangers laugh at something terrible that happens to a persone and leads them to believe that their life is ******. It is not for people like you to go "Today I had to apply at Wal-mart cuzz I can't get a job lololol" Your life isn't F'ed if you did it at your own free will.
I'm sure there are private law companies out there who might hire you. Even if it's not a high position, it's a good way to start. Three months of no job after graduation is not uncommon though!

That really sucks. Damn the economy! I hope you find something better soon.
Yes, how DARE the OP expect a fair return on her investment in law school.
