Today, I finally finished a drawing that someone had asked and said they would pay me for. I worked on it for multiple hours and was very proud of it. When it came to discussing payment, I asked what his best offer was. A pack of cigarettes. FML

Please tell me you told him no, and went searching for a new buyer. Or at least keep it, you are proud of it after all!

At least now you've learned that terms and conditions are included in agreements. When you don't have terms and conditions, you don't have an agreement. Also, it helps to set a price for any item you hope to sell. You have learned a fundamental lesson. Let's hope you only need to learn this once.

A L W A Y A Y S get the commission price up front! Lesson learned.

I sure hope you told them to shove those cigarettes up their a** and you kept the work, put it where you can see it and appreciate it every time you glance at it and be like "Yeah I made that, damn fool thought they would get it just for lousy cigarettes? Pssh, not worth it."((:

Sounds like someone hasn't left jail yet

Always negotiate payment before you start. If it turns them off and they avoid the subject, walk away. Even better if you at least get a deposit as a sign of commitment on their end.
