Today, I gave my phone number to a guy at the movie theatre. I was excited to receive a text a few minutes later, sure enough when I unlocked my phone I had received a message from an unknown number. It was his girlfriend. FML

On behalf of females, I do apologize but unfortunately that's what we have to do incase the male asking believes he is owed our number and becomes violent. It happens a lot more often than you think.
