It's a new relationship, and your entitled to your feelings. Just don't express them anytime around a birthday. Might get surprised.
*you're
Also how do you know it's a new relationship?
Clearly by OPs feelings of the kids that's why she's complaining.
*he's
Maybe if the daughter had burst out of the cake in a bikini, whilst the son was continuously blowing an air horn this would be more easily justifiable.
Bursting out of a cake in a bikini makes you a *****? I learn something new everyday.
Comment moderated for rule-breaking.
Show it anywayThe kids are a pretty important part too..he cant just ignore them. I mean, they would be his step children.
When you date someone who has kids, the kids are part of the package. A person cannot ignore them or pretend they don't exist. It is pretty important. And if it gets to a level where a person may be thinking of marrying said other person with children; a whole host of other factors comes into play as well. How does that parent treat and discipline their children. Are they neglectful, treat their kids as a burden, or are they an attentive parent, etc etc. How does the new person or potential step father/mother play in the new dynamic...as in raising these new kids, discipline, personal issues, etc. So yes, when you date a person with children, you are in a big way, dating the kids as well. (experience comes only from single friends with kids and their dating experiences as being told to me. So, what I have learned from second hand sources can vary from other peoples experiences or those currently going through it themselves. Thought I may need to add this disclaimer for anyone who may go, "but in my/my friends case..blah blah blah".)
"Dad I've got something to tell you!!" "Son can it wait, we're... a....in the middle of something..." "No!! I've waited long enough to tell you this, I can't keep it in any longer!" "Ugh! Fine, what is it?" "I hate your girlfriend!!! she's a bitch!! oh and let's not forget about her ***** daughter!!! I can go on for days about that ****!! And where do I even begin about her son he is such a dick!!..." "Son!! Son!!, you might want to...." "No dad let me finish!!" "SURPRISE!!!!!"
OP said that the girlfriend and her children heard the insults, they probably wouldn't have said "Surprise". It would have been more like an awkward silence..
horrible timing
well apart from celebrating your birthday alone after that...happy birthday OP...
Happy Birthday.. Do try to grow up a little this year!
YDI. You're entitled to your feelings but the language you used was unnecessarily harsh.
You don't have to worry about pretending to be nice to them, anymore… so, win?

Well, I hope you felt like a complete bitch, because you acted like a royal one.
Happy birthday!
