11, YES. After that comment, none others matter. OP, just use this as an excuse to take everything she tells you to do as a joke. Everything. Ask her forr cash, if she says no, take it and compliment her on her skills as a comedian.
#14 is made of WIN! Hehe...
This made me laugh so hard. Agreed!
lamo, this is most definitely the correct solution to the problem XD
i really hope the girl sees this. i almost wish my mom WOULD do something like that to me so i could use this. but sadly i'm straight and even if i wasn't my mom would still support me because she just loves gay people. (i'm not kidding. if you tell her you're gay she'll think you're amazing.) it would be my grandma who would do this.
Agreed.
Look up a Unitarian Universalist church in your area. They'll give you the support and love you need in this harrowing time in your life. They are a welcoming community that accepts people of all ages, religions, political affiliations and backgrounds. I hope you find more love than what your mother gave. My heart goes with you and I wish you the best of luck.
You asshole, you think redirecting her to a church is respectful?!? They'll just try and put her mind to sleep in order to "change" her or convince her she's sinned. There's nothing worse than doing that to someone, even insulting them is less infuriating that what you're doing. Biggots and homophobics aren't that different.
Hmm.... while I do agree that A support system is necessary, whether it is a church or not is completely up to the OP. Church settings really just aren't right for everyone. However, it is a valid option, but that is all it is, an option.
Thank you 58. Some people think that just because they've met some Christians or know about some churches (and usually [but sadly not always] these encounters are from internet trolls or based on media representation) that they know about Christianity. There is no such thing as Christianity; there are Christianities- it's not a monolithic tradition. So, #53 before you bag on any particular church or any particular person who is calling themselves a Christian, please take 2 seconds to actually see what they're about first.
Unitarian Universalists is one of the kindest, most understanding religions I have ever encountered, and it's a bit closed-minded of YOU to assume all churches are anti-gay.
Another open minded one is Religious Science/Science of Mind. I know many openly gay ministers in the church
"Oh noes, my life is ****** because my mom didn't believe me when I told her I'm lesbian"
more like "my mom doesn't accept me being a lesbian", read between the lines.
Try making out with your girlfriend in front of your mom, see if that joke will crack her up. Congratulations on telling that to her, though, you're a brave one :)
I agree, I havent even told my dad about my belly button nevermind something masivee like that!
lol
may god forgive you for your horrible sin.
#26... ignorant much?
#26, One thing that pisses me off most is people that are bigoted, intolerant, and hateful but they blame it on God. Be all those in church and your home, but keep it to yourself in public.
@wazdog, can't help it? you still make it sound like its some horrible curse to be gay
May God forgive you for forgetting the very wise words, "Judge not lest ye be judged."
#26 Why should anyone have to put up with you shoving religion at them? In real life there is no sin, there is merely the law (which says you can be a lesbian).
**** you #60. Be a tolerant person or shut the **** up.
I think #60 was responding to #26, #61.
No, it's not in the genes you ******* shit for brains. You just can't accept that some people are born different, and will always be different. You fail at life for comparing homosexuality to alcoholicness.
I get it. You're intolerant of intolerant people. How do you live with yourself?!?
Moron. It's not a sin to love. You Christians bother me. You think you can only love someone if they have the proper genitalia. Guess what? Homosexuality is natural. I'm bi. I can reach down someones pants and be please with whatever I find. Did you shit yourself yet? These are only facts.
Indeed it is no sin to love others. God loves homosexuals as well and I do agree it is natural. @#50, curse is a strong word but being gay certainly places you at a disadvantage in many aspects in today's society. Apologies for the comparison to alcoholism, a better comparison would be pre-marital sex. The point I'm trying to make is that God still has the last word on what is sinful and there are things considered sins based on the Bible that most people consider harmless. Btw, I find it amusing that people can use the religious term 'sin' and yet get offended when others use religious sources to point out facts.
just sounds like your own ignorance to me
Yeah. Then, what if a father "loves" his daughter in an erotic sense? Or if a man "loves" his dog in an erotic sense (as this girl "loves" women in an erotic sense). Obviously, we all have a conscience that tells us that some things are wrong or unnatural and that conscience that tells us right from wrong was put there by someone with a higher level of power, i.e. God.
Your wrong..... We Christians don't think you need the proper genitals to love someone.... I'm Christian and I know that a dude can stick his junk in another guys butt.... The point is it IS NOT natural. Sex was created for man and woman. Not man and man or woman and woman. God loves everyone no matter their sexuality but it IS NOT NATURAL.
You religious bigot dum dums always make me laugh when you bring up child or animal abuse when talking about TWO CONSENTING ADULTS that just happen to have the same thing in their pants. You love thinking about ******* animals and shit, huh? Makes ya wonder who the real whack jobs are: a guy who likes guys or a person who believes a virgin had a baby and he walked on water and killed himself to save his creation from himself. Hmmm...
My mom, who is a nurse, told me that during a young age, a child has a phase where, if you're female, you want to marry your father, and if you're male, you want to marry your mother. It goes different ways too, like sometimes you won't accept that your mother/father is a girl/boy because you don't like girls/boys yet. But if the appropriate figure (Mother for males, father for females) is not there, you don't go through this phase, and essentially become a homosexual, or bisexual. I'm not sure if it's right or wrong.
^ hahaha, couldn't have said it better myself
@ #132, sorry to burst your bubble, but I happen to think your view on homosexuality is a bit, well...sheltered. Sex was not created for man and woman (since the evidence points to the fact that humans are one of the newest species on the planet), and homosexuality is 100% natural, both in the human and animal world. The entire bonobo species (it's a type of monkey) is bisexual. They all ave sex with whatever gender they please. I'm not homosexual myself, but I believe there's nothing abnormal about it. I'm not anti-religious either, but I feel that - while religion has many benefits - it has also pushed it's limited views on homophobia too far. The church, not God, made being gay a sin.
you shouldnt be talking unless you know what your talking about. thats why i dont teach sword fighting. but i know gay, and i know that it is natural but it is not genetic. people do not chose to be gay, people are born gay. i know many gay/lesbian people who do go to church. gay and lesbian people are a very very large part of the world. they are you teachers, doctors, burger king cashiers, receptionists, interns, Amtrack, engineers, lawyers, tour guides, and actors on TV. the gay community contributes a lot to society. id know.
You're using Freudian theory to try and say homosexuality is a psychological disorder? You realize there are plenty of people out there, (my being one of them), who didn't have the "appropriate mother/father figure," and yet didn't turn out gay/bisexual? There are also plenty of people out there that DO have the aforementioned "appropriate mother/father figure," and yet ARE gay/bisexual?
really? you think that all christians believe the exact same thing? thats like saying "all nonchristians support GLBT's" which i know for a fact is a lie. have you not read the millions of comments that say "i'm a christian, and i support GLBTs?" Have you never heard of the pink mennos? do your research. then lets talk.
See, what makes you say that it's perversion? If they hold the same "love" that homosexuals have for each other, how could you say that it's perversion. Now the thing is, the father and the daughter could use the same faulty argument that they should be able to love each other without persecution that you're giving them. Yet, you know with your Intelligently-designed conscience, that the daughter loving her father is perverted, wrong and disgusting. However, you think that homosexuality is OK because your conscience has grown accustomed to it.
No, we think homosexuality is OK because it doesn't involve the same ******-up power dynamics a father/daughter relationship would, not because we have an "intelligently-designed" conscience.
**** YOU
What? Okay, it might have been poorly worded and such, but we really aren't all the same. I'm sorry for being rude about it, but I just get really frustrated by intolerance of my religion. I have no problem with someone being homosexual/bisexual. In fact, my mother is bisexual. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. As for doctrine, there's nothing in the New Testament that says homosexuality is wrong, except for Corinthians, which is written by Paul, who admits several times that his words aren't necessarily from God, but are his own views. I'd think that if homosexuality were such a big deal to God, then Christ, you know, the person who sets the religion apart from Judaism, might have said something about it? Besides, all sins are equal in God's eyes, aren't they? Are the naysayers claiming that they have never lied, or cheated, or done *anything* wrong? Judge not lest ye be judged, after all.
how about you post the exact quote from the bible that says that it's a sin to be gay? it's Christians that twist the words of the bible that make me sick. you know the reason people tend to think all Muslims are horrible is because one group of Muslims twisted the words of the Quaran and justified killing women for talking to men outside their families and flying a plane into the twin towers? everyone who claims it is a sin to be gay is doing the same thing. twisting the words of the bible to justify making someone who is different feel terrible for being themselves.

I think you mistyped it so I fixed it. She took my face in her hands and said "These aren't the droids you're looking for"
