Today, I finally told my mom I am a lesbian. She started laughing and said 'Good one honey'. I told her I wasn't joking, and she took my face in her hands and said 'You ARE joking!' Then she left. FML

Today, as an April fools day joke, I decided to tell my mom and dad that I was gay. After an awkward silence, my mom looks at me, smiles, and says, "well, we have known for a while." She wasn't joking. FML

Today, I came out to my mom. I had an epic speech planned, and when I tried to tell her, it all fell apart and I started crying and just said, "I'm gay." After a few seconds silence, my mom sighs and says, "Duh." FML

Today, I told my mom that I’m a lesbian. She was fine with it, supported me 100%, and it was a huge relief, until she followed up with, “Until you find a husband, then you’ll obviously have to stop all that.” The reason I even told her is because my girlfriend just proposed to me, and we’re engaged. FML

Today, my mom called me into the living room to say that she had something important to tell me. She then explained how she and my dad had "talked things over" and wanted me to know that they accept me and love me no matter what. Apparently my mom thinks I'm lesbian. I'm not. FML

I give you a lot of credit. Good for you for having the courage to do something like that. Personally, I think it's your mom's problem if she can't tolerate or accept it. You are who you are, and all you need to do is be true to yourself. As many others have said, love is love, and love is blind. I'm sure you'll find someone who adores you just the way you are :). Good luck with your mom, but you don't need to change yourself just for her. It's your life and your happiness. Make the most of what you have.

hmmm... I am always amazed at how anytime some one mentions gay or lesbian, it immediately becomes a forum for people to explain their views on Christianity. So- 1. I'm sorry your mother is so ignorant and unable to accept your existence in it's entirety, hopefully she can over come her apparent (and I admit assumed) bigotry and love you with her whole heart. Any other course of action is, at least to me, an unforgivable act of cruelty. 2. God can stay, all you bigoted, ignorant, hateful people who would profess to follow Jesus or any other saint or martyr or deity etc. and yet demand that everyone fits into your own shallow view of the universe, well, I certainly hope I get to meet you some day. Wait, no, make that meat. Yes, turn you into ground human burger. People are just people, period. Get the f over it.

Well to all those people who are throwing god out there, heres a few thing to get you to STFU. 1)I can't remember where I heard this from, but it has something to do with Genetic error. 2) So your saying that God would make a person who is gay just so they can go to hell? I mean if they feel how they feel, then good for them, plus no where in the bible syas "Though shawl not like "like" people of the same gender, or thee shawl burn for all eternity. Well OP good for coming out. Even if you mom doesn't want to accept it, she still knows it. Just talk to her about it a bit, and tell her that nothing has changed. I mean its not like you want to do things to her, or anything(if you do thats creepy). Also, tell her thats at least 1 out of every 5 people has strong feelings for the same gender. Now, I bet it sucks when you get courage for nothing, but someone who wants you to joke. On of my friends is in counseling, and is grounded because he had feelings for a guy, and his parents aren't even religious or anything. Just be glad that its that, and not anything worst. Damn, that was long O-O

This is rediculous, why does religion matter in this situation? I'm sorry your mom isn't accepting... Shame don't have a mom like mine. My family said it was ok to be a lesbian, and they came to me and talked to me about it. I hope she learns to accept that, and realise your still the same daughter she has always had. Good luck with your mom, and hopefully the rest of your family is accepting.
