Well if she didn't know what was happening that's your fault for not teaching her about her own body!
Maybe she told her but she freaked out
Did you teach her nothing? Or are you one of those who think sex ed is a sin against God?
you should have taught your daughter about this. YDI
Probably sort of inappropriate, but this reminds me of Carrie. You should have taught her.My mother, my sister and I all started at nine years old, so if early mensies run in the family you could have started sooner. Mine didn't and I broke down, too.
Why haven't you talked to her about it? You're obviously late for this talk OP. Just don't wait until your daughter is pregnant to give her the sex talk.
You are really irresponsible. Why wouldn't you explain the menstrual cycle to a girl going through puberty?! It's your daughter who should be typing a FML
**** your life? No, **** her life! Poor girl, having your first period is scary enough when you understand what's happening, I can't imagine what it would be like if you didn't know. Either she's really, really young or you haven't done your job properly, OP.
Um wow that sucks and all but arent schools and parents suppose to teach that in the 4th/5th grade. I had a puberty presentation before going to middle school
It starts in 5th grade in elementary schools, 3rd in catholic where I'm from. She should have been educated by someone at least.
in our school its not until 7th/8th grade...
I had a presentation on periods and wet dreams (They showed the entire class, both boys and girls on both) when I was in 4th grade, and once again in 5th. Though, you had a permission slip. If your parents signed and returned it, you would be removed from the class and not see the presentation. If you never brought it back signed, then you're good to go. I'm not sure if all schools do this, and I surely hope that OP didn't sign that slip because if he/she did, then his/her (Too lazy to check profile xD) daughter would at least have an idea of what would be happening and not be sobbing. Definite YDI on this post and poor girl.
Good thing you are her mother...well you know what to do get some chocolate and maybe some tampons/pads as well

um, maybe you shouldve taught her about her about her body?
**** your daughters life. I'm a guy and I can't imagine bleeding out in my genital area and not knowing what the ***** going on just imagine all the things that could be going through her head. I'd do more than cry. You should have taught her about periods atleast. I can't blame you though because she might still be young and you couldn't have known that it would come so soon
